What Type of Flooring is Best for Different Rooms?
If you have recently purchased a brand new home, or are simply looking to decorate your house, you may be considering what type of flooring will work best for each different room.
Here at Value Carpets and Flooring, we have years of experience in offering the best advice to customers looking to give their rooms a touch of class with their floors. This is why, for our latest blog, we are going to recommend the best type of flooring for each different room for your home.
Choosing the Best Flooring for your Home
Living Rooms – Generally living rooms have a stable temperature, low moisture levels and low footfall. This is great news for any floor as there is no restriction to which type of floors you can use.
Kitchen
Vinyl, laminate and lacquered engineered floors are all designed to suit a busy kitchen environment. All of these floors can handle moisture, splashes and scratches, just remember to mop up spillages quickly. Solid wood or natural wood floor will, however, not work for kitchens.
Bathrooms
Value Carpets would recommend vinyl and laminate floors as they can both resist the high moisture levels found in bathrooms. Changes in moisture can damage natural carpets and solid wood floor over time plus engineered floors are not as good at resisting splashes.
Conservatories
Conservatories can use vinyl, laminate, engineered or natural carpets, however solid wood floors could shrink and expand due to the variation in temperature.
Underfloor Heating
Engineered, laminate and luxury vinyl tiles will all work fine with underfloor heating. Solid wood floors will not be suitable for underfloor heating due to the aforementioned temperature changes we mentioned in the conservatories section.
Stairs
Laminate, engineered and solid wood flooring can also be laid on stairs. All of these surfaces are stable and grippy enough to avoid any potential accidents.
